Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity for providing a large bore opening for arranging a strainer in an engine in which an oil sump of lubricating oil is mounted to the bottom of a crank case, by separately forming an oil separator plate from the oil sump and holding said plate between the crank case and the oil sump. CONSTITUTION:An oil sump 26 is jointed by a flange to the bottom of a crank case 10, and an oil strainer 14 is arranged in said oil sump 26 through a mounting arm 16 then communicated to an oil passage 18 through a pipe 20. In the above engine, an oil separator plate 54 is separately formed from the oil sump 26, and the peripheral edge part 56 of the plate 54 is held between tightening faces 58, 60 of the crank case 10 and the oil sump 26. While this oil separator plate 54 is formed to a curved section of arc shape, and this curved part 62 is provided approximately to the outer edge of a rotary locus of a balance weight integrally provided with a crankshaft. Further an oil outflow port 71 is formed in the bottom part of said curved part 62.
