Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To smoothly control an apparatus, by combining a hopper, cooling chamber, grate, waste heat boiler, cooling gas fan, press. detector, purge valve, gas analyzer, oxygen concn. meter, burner fan and blowing valve so as to fulfill a specified function. CONSTITUTION:When combustible gas within a hopper 2 amounts at least 4% after coke 1 is charged, signals of permission of opening an air blowing valve 12 and a main blow valve 15 are generated from a gas analyzer 20 respectively to the control sections of said valves 12 and 15. Then the air-blow valve 12 is controlled by a signal from an oxygen concn. meter so as to constantly keep oxygen concn. right in front of a burner 16 at not more than 4%. The main blow valve 15 also controls an injection rate into a quenching apparatus so as to constantly keep a press. within the hopper at not more than a determined value in response to a signal from a press. detector 22. When combustible gas concn. becomes 4% or less, or oxygen concn. reaches at least 4% in the hopper, the air blow valve 12 and the main blow valve 15 are completely shut in response to a signal from the gas analyzer 20.
