PRODUCTION OF MOLD FOR SPRAY MOLDING

PURPOSE:To permit formation of facing sand layers on the perpendicular surfaces of large-sized molds as well in a spray molding method by extending wire nets on the surfaces of a pattern at suitable spacings therefrom. CONSTITUTION:Expanded metals 2 mounted with plural stanchions 4 of the sizes corresponding to the thicknesses of respective facing sand layers 3 at suitable spacings are extended on the surfaces of a pattern 1 of, for example, a square shape or a rectangular shape. Both end parts of the metals 2 are fastened and fixed by means of galvanized iron wires. To mount the stanchions 4 to the metals 2, the squares of the metals 2 are cut; thereafter the cut parts are bent or the stanchions 4 are welded 5 to the metals 2. System sand is spray-molded on the surfaces of such pattern 1 by using a wet or dry spray molding device. According to this method the facing sand layers are formed to desired thicknesses on the perpendicular surfaces as well.
