MITE REPELLENT

PURPOSE:A mite repellent, containing a specific maleimide derivative as an active constituent, and capable of exhibiting improved repellent effect on tetranychids, mites parasitic on animals, etc. CONSTITUTION:A mite repellent containing a maleimide derivative expressed by formulaI(X and Y are H or halogen; R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl), preferably N-pentyl-2,3-dichloromaleimide or N-cyclohexyl-2,3-dibromomaleimide, as an active constituent. The compound is obtained by reacting a maleic anhydride expressed by formula II with an amine expressed by the formula RNH2, and preferably mixed with a carrier, adjuvant, etc. and formulated into a solution, solid for use. Tetranychids, e.g. Panonychus citri or Tetranychus urticae, mites parasitic on plants, e.g. Tetranychus telaris, mites parasitic on animals, e.g. Ornithonyssus bacoti or Ornithonyssus sylviarum, and mites of the families Acaroidea and Tarsonemidae, e.g. Tyrophagus dimidiatus and Tarsonemus floricolus, may be cited.
