PURIFICATION OF WATER UTILIZING AQUATIC PLANT

PURPOSE:To highly purify filthy water in a simplified process while removing pollutants from it, by introducing the water to be purified through a water- running passage which is divided with rectifying plates having numerous holes and where aquatic plants are grown with the intervals of 15-30cm between their adjacent roots. CONSTITUTION:A rectangular frame member 1 is provided, its interior is lankily divided by a partition plate 2, and water to be purified is let overflow beyond weir parts 3 from the upperstream to the downstream by a head as shown in the arrow W. Rectifying plates 6 having numerous holes 6a are provided at the opposite sides of the part divided by the partition plate 2, and aquatic plants 4 are grown with the intervals of about 15-30cm between their adjacent roots at the layer of sant 7 having thickness of about 30-50cm formed on the bottom of the water-running passage 5 between the rectifying plate 6 and the next one 6. Aeration piping 10 communicated to an air pipe 9 may be provided on the bottom of the water-running passage 5 to perform aeration with air ejected through its nozzle.
