POSITIONING MECHANISM FOR MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy through the correction of positioning of a magnetic head due to thermal expansion and contraction, by providing a correcting means bending a belt between a drive pulley and a carriage and increasing/decreasing an amount of bending and pressing in response to temperature change. CONSTITUTION:A correcting pulley 12 provided to be connected to a steel belt 4 between a drive pulley 5 and a carriage 7 adopts a bimetal effect consisting of two members 13 and 14 different in thermal expansion coefficient, for example. Since the pulley 12 is lifted upward accompanied with the temperature rise of this system and a steel belt 4 is pushed to bend, the carriage 7 is shifted left and right. Thus, the amount of displacement of the relative relation of a magnetic head 6 and a magnetic disc 2 radially due to temperature change can be cancelled, allowing to be returned to the original relative position.
