CONSTRUCTION OF GLOVE COMPARTMENT

PURPOSE:To decrease handling force of a glove compartment, simplify its construction and reduce its cost, by constructing a lock unit for the glove compartment in a vehicle in such a manner that clicks, engaged to holes in a box, and leg part of a knob, urged and movably formed to detach the click, are integrally formed to an opening and closing lid body. CONSTITUTION:A lock unit 4 comprises a knob 5 of U-shaped section and clicks 7, engageable to holes 6, separately formed from a box main unit 1 to free end parts respectively of leg parts 17 formed to the knob 5 by slits 15, 16, and engageable to holes 12, formed to a frame 11. the leg part 17, being formed to a hollow shape, can be held and rotated to the inside about a root part 17a, urged to the inside, as a supportig point, while the clicks 7, being internally moved, can be detached from the holes 6 and 12. Since this lock unit 4 is integrally formed to a lid body 2, under a condition the clicks 7 are detached from the holes 6 and 12, if the knob 5 is pulled, the lid body 2 is opened from the box main unit 1.
