Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prepare a copolymer free from shrinkage on crosslinking, and useful as paint having high adhesivity, etc., by copolymerizing an ethylenic unsaturated compound with specific bicyclo-orthoester compound having a vinylbenzyl group. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer of formula III (A is constituent unit of one or more kinds of ethylenic unsaturated compounds; x and y are molar fractions of the constituent units) is prepared by copolymerizing (A) the vinylbenzyl- containing bicyclo-orthoester compound of formula II (e.g. 1-methyl-4-vinylbenzyl-oxymethyl-2,6,7-trioxabicyclo[2,2,2]octane) obtained by reacting chloromethylstyrene with a bicyclo-orthoester compound of formulaI(R is lower alkyl) in a solvent such as tetrahydrofuran, etc. at 20-100 deg.C and (B) an ethylenic unsaturated compound (e.g. styrene, etc.).
