WATER PAINT COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To provide a water paint compsn. which has an excellent storage stability and gives a coating film having an excellent resistance to water and blister, by incorporating varnish contg. an aq. resin having carboxyl groups and fine powder of a mixed resin consisting of an epoxy resin and a carboxyl group-contg. resin. CONSTITUTION:An epoxy resin and a carboxyl group-contg. resin are melt- kneaded in a weight ratio of (1-20):10. The mixture is cooled to solidify it, and crushed to obtain fine resin powder (B). An aq. resin varnish (A) obtd. by dispersing an aq. resin contg. carboxyl groups, such as a polyester or an acrylic resin, in an aq. medium is mixed with the powder (B) in such a proportion as to give a molar ratio of the epoxy group to the carboxyl group of (10-150): 100 in the resulting compsn. A hardener, a pigment, a dispersant, etc. are blended with the resulting film-forming component to obtain the desired water paint compsn. This compsn. is suitable for use as intercoat for automobile, anti-corrosive primer, etc.
