MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To reduce the time for manufacture and to improve adhesiveness by forming oxide layers on gap forming surfaces. CONSTITUTION:Cores 10 are formed of alloys such as ''Permalloy '' or ''Sendust ''. Gap forming surfaces 11 of the cores 10 are polished to specular surfaces and are oxidized by heating or the like to form oxide layers 20. The surfaces of the layers 20 formed on the cores 10 are bonded by means of glass having the same coefft. of thermal expansion, whereby a gap consisting of a glass bonding layer 30 is formed. Since the oxide layers 30 are directly formed on the surfaces of the core materials, there is no need for forming thin films of malleable metals and the time for manufacture is reduced and adhesiveness is improved.
