GLOVE COMPARTMENT FOR AUTOMOBILE

PURPOSE:To urge a lid in such a direction to open, by buckling a lid stay made of a flexible member, to utilize the reaction force of the stay when the lid is in its closed position. CONSTITUTION:A lid stay 7 is made of a flexible member. The anchoring end 12 of the lid stay 7 is secured on the inner panel 9 of a lid 4 and the other end of the stay is inserted into a side chamber 6 on a glove compartment body 3 through the hole 16 of the front wall 15 of the side chamber. A stopper 17 is secured on the central part of the lid stay 7. A guide 19 for directing the part of the lid stay 7 between the stopper 17 and the inner end of the stay is secured on a wall which divides the glove compartment body 3 and the side chamber 6 from each other. When the lid 4 is closed, the stopper 17 comes into contact with the guide 19 to buckle the lid stay 7 to cause a reaction force. When the lid 4 is opened, the stopper 17 is halted by a blocking member 20 secured in the hole 16.
