PURPOSE:To make efficient the window service requiring voice output, Furigana (Japanese phonetic syllabary written at the side of ideographs), and so on, by not converting Kanji (Chinese character) data, which is subjected to Kana (Japanese syllabary)-Kanji conversion and is input dependently upon additional information and reading, to a Kanji code but processing it as data of Kana additional information. CONSTITUTION:A small number of pattern keys B and Kana keys are used to perform Kana-Kanji conversion input (feature extraction type Kanji input) 11. When a homophone cannot be identified, additional information corresponding to the detailed pattern key in the Kanji dictionary file or additional information such as radicals of Kanji, side and accent is automatically added at the time when one of displayed homophones is selected, and this homophone is not only stored in data file 14 of CPU13 but also recorded onto magnetic card 12 as data of Kana + additional information without conversion to a Kanji code. By using Kana information, voice synthesizing output 15, sorting of name lists, and output with Furigana are easy.
