HOT AND COLD WATER MIXING FAUCET

PURPOSE:To heighten the reliability of the faucet against the abnormally high temperature of hot water and obtain excellent temperature control action, in a hot and cold water mixing faucet in which a termosensitive section is placed in a mixed water passage to operate a control valve to keep the temperature of mixed water constant, by using a form-memorizing alloy to make the thermosensitive element of the thermosensitive section. CONSTITUTION:When the temperature of hot water supplied from a hot water inflow passage A has risen while warm water is supplied by opening a stop valve 16 off a valve seat 12 by the rotation of an open/close knob 19, the form- restoring stress of a helical spring 13 made of a form-memorizing alloy and set in a tensile state increases to compress the spring to move control valves 8, 9 upwards. As a result, the quantity of cold water flowing from a cold water inflow passage B into a mixed water passage C increases but the quantity of the hot water from the hot water inflow passage A decreases so that the temperature of mixed water is kept constant. When the temperature of the hot water has dropped, the form-restoring stress of the helical spring 13 decreases to move the control valves 8, 9 downwards by another helical spring 14 to keep the temperature of the mixed water constant in the same manner.
