AUTOMATIC PAPER FEED MECHANISM

PURPOSE:To take a document from a document supply port by turning off an electromagnetic clutch according to a signal applied from a reset switch, turning on an electromagnet to idle a pinch roller, and separating a guide plate from a paper feed roller. CONSTITUTION:A timer is started by a signal output from a reset switch 21. When the time while the signal is active amounts to more than a fixed time, an electromagnetic clutch 19 is turned off, and an electromagnet 23 attracts an iron piece 24, so that pinch rollers 6 become free to separate a guide plate 5 from a paper feed roller 4. Thus, a document is taken in a direction of an arrow X without any resistance. If an operator does not take the document during a reset period, even after the lapse of a fixed time, a signal is sent from a sensor 14, and a signal is output to a motor without resetting a timer, whereby the document is discharged to a stacker to turn off the detecting sensor 14.
