Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To retain heat of lower face of a steel material preventing damage due to scales from the steel material by arranging many pipes vertically at an interval in the lower part between rollers that carries high temperature steel material. CONSTITUTION:When carrying high temperature steel material such as a steel sheet immediately after hot rolling, many stainless steel pipes 3 are arranged vertically at an interval in a position lower than the carrying level by the rollers 2 under the steel material 1. The stainless steel pipes 3 are thin pipes and their heat capacity is made small by filling with low heat conductive substance etc. or by winding metallic foil on the surface. Radiant heat from the lower face of the high temperature steel material 1 is absorbed by thin metallic parts of the surface of the pipes 3. As their heat capacity is small, they are heated at once to high temperature and radiate the heat to the lower face of the steel material 1. Scales peeled off from the steel material 1 passes through the pipes and do not adhere to the pipes 3. Thus, the pipes can be used for a long time without damage.
