IMPACT-RESISTANT METHACRYLATE RESIN COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. having excellent surface appearance and transparency, by polymerizing a crosslinkable monomer mixture in the presence of a specified multi-structural acrylic elastomer. CONSTITUTION:5-100pts.wt. crosslinkable monomer mixture (A) consisting of 80-99.9wt% methyl methacrylate (a), 0-19.9wt% C1-C8 alkyl acrylate (b) and 0.1-10wt% polyfunctional monomer (c) contg. at least two C=C double bonds per molecule is polymerized in the presence of 100pts.wt. multi-strucrural acrylic elastomer consisting of an inner layer (B) composed of 5-50pts.wt. rigid crosslinked resin contg. at least 80wt% methyl methacrylate unit and an outer layer (C) composed of 95-50pts.wt. crosslinked acrylate ester copolymer obtd. from 69.9-89.9wt% component (b), 10-30wt% styrene (derivative) (d) and 0.1-10wt% compd. (e) of formula I or II. Then 5-1,000pts.wt. non-crosslinkable monomer mixture (D) consisting of 80-100wt% component (a) and 0-20wt% component (b) is added thereto in such a proportion as to give a weight ratio of D/A of 0.5-200. The mixture is polymerized.
