Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To prepare a solvent having neither change with time nor inferiority in solvent effects, by adding ethylene oxide to furfuryl alcohol in the presence of an alkali. CONSTITUTION:Average 1-2mol ethylene oxide is added 1mol furfuryl alcohol in the presence of a proper amount of an alkali to give a compound, which is used as a solvent. The prepared compound is colorless or light yellow and transparent, will not change in color forever. In the recovery of the solvent, vacuum distillation is advantageously carried out.
