Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To stabilize a casting speed and to prevent the slip between a continuously cast ingot and rollers in the stage of curved type continuous casting by applying driving force for feeding and braking force to the ingot on the upper stream side and down stream side in a leveling part for the ingot from a vertical to horizontal direction at the ingot. CONSTITUTION:The continuously cast steel ingot from a mold for continuous casting is changed of directions from a vertical to horizontal direction with many ingot guiding rollers in a curved leveling part 1. The guiding roller group is segmented to a driving group on the upper stream side and a braking groupIand a braking group II on the lower stream side with the part 1 of the ingot as a boundary. The motors for the driving rollers of the driving group and the motors for the braking rollers of the braking groupsI, II are controlled of driving force and braking force with a braking controller 2. In the driving torque of the motors for the driving rollers in this case, the braking force of the braking rollers on the down stream of the part 1 is controlled so as to approach to the threshold target value at which no slips are generated between the driving rollers and the ingot from the lower side thereof, whereby the ingot is cast continuously at the stable casting speed while the slip between the ingot and the rollers is prevented.
