Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the performance and availability of file processing and to reduce the man-hours for work for the decision of file assignment, by setting up a file arrangement/design device to decide a storage device to which each file is to be assigned. CONSTITUTION:Respective information related to the using status of respective files within a specified time interval DELTAtau is stored in a file using status controlling device and the working time values of storage devices 1-N at DELTAtau are stored in a storage device using status controlling device 3. The processing speed, allowable operating ratio, accumurated information variable, etc. of respective storage devices are stored in a storage device factor controlling device 4. A file arrangement calculator group 5 finds the minimum of the total required time for accessing respective storage devices periodically from the information stored in respective storage devices within the limitation of the allowable operating ratio and accumulation tolerance of respective storage devices 1-N to decide the assignment of the files to respective storage devices. In every time when the using status of the file exceeds a prescribed threshold, a file rearrangement execution device 11 rearranges the assignment of the files to respective storage devices while referring data in a present file arrangement pattern controlling device 10.
