Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve a heat insulating property and a vibration absorbing property and to facilitate machining by forming a rear metal pressing the friction material to a rotor while supporting it in a double plate structure in the width direction at least within the range of the fixed surface of the friction material. CONSTITUTION:A friction pad is comprised of a friction material pressed to a rotor and a rear metal which conveys the pressing force applied by the reaction claw portion of a hydraulic cylinder unit or a caliper to the friction material and presses the friction material while supporting it firmly. In this case, the rear metal is formed in a double plate structure in the width direction at least within the range of the fixed surface of the friction material by bending the metal plate of the rear metal raw material. For example, the rear metal raw material 1 punched in a predetermined shape is bent in two and machined so as to form the rear metal 2 with a double plate structure as a whole. Accordingly, the heat conductivity and vibration property can be improved as compared with those of a single plate structure and also the machining can be made easy.
