Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which excels in traveling performance, electromagnetic converting properties, etc., by bending a supporter so that it protrudes at the side of a ferromagnetic metallic thin and then coating a lubricant solution on said thin film during the application of ultrasonic vibrations. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic metallic thin film of about 0.05-2mu thickness is formed on a supporter with use of a ferromagnetic metal by a vacuum vapor deosition process, a chemical vapor plating process, etc. Then the supporter is wound (protruding at the side of thin film face) around a free rotary roll having a radius of about 3-30 times as much as the thickness of the supporter and along the face opposite to the above-mentioned metallic thin film. Then about >=10kHz ultrasonic wave is applied to the thin film face and/or a lubricant solution, and at the same time a lubricant solution such as an organic solvent solution (about 0.05-5% concentration) of fatty acid metallic soap, etc. is coated on the thin film. Thus a magnetic recording medium is obtained.
