METHOD FOR PREVENTING EMBRITTLEMENT OF BOTTOM CARBON BRICK OF BLAST FURNACE

PURPOSE:To prevent the embrittlement of the bottom carbon brick of a blast furnace and to make the brick reutilizable in the stage of relining the blast furnace by scraping out the contents of the furnace bottom after blowing out by coating paint on the surface of said brick so as to prevent the exposure thereof to the atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of relining a blast furnace after blowing out thereof, the material sticking to the furnace in the shaft part and the brick and deposit remaining in the shaft part are dismantled and removed away, whereafter the shell 1 at the level of a tuyere 2 is opened, and the contents in the furnace are scraped out to the outside through the tuyere 2. After the contents are scraped out of the furnace, the remaining carbon brick 3 is exposed to the atmosphere and at the same instant, paint is coated on the surface thereof to shield the brick from the atmosphere by the paint film 4. Tar epoxy resin paint, etc. are used for the paint and the film 4 is made about 100mu thick. The film 4 is decomposed away by heating after kindling of the furnace.
