SYNTHETIC METHOD OF BENZYL IMIDAZOLEDITHIOCARBOXYLATE

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance useful as an intermediate for curing agents of epoxy resins, curing accelerators of the same, agricultural chemicals and medicines, by condensing an imidazoledithiocarboxylic acid with a benzyl halide, and dehydrohalogenating the condensation product with a hydrogen halide acceptor. CONSTITUTION:A compound expressed by formulaI(R2 is H, CH3, C2H5, undecyl, heptadecyl or phenyl; R4 is H or CH3) is cendensed with a compound experssed by formula II (X is halogen) to form a compound expressed by formula III, which is then reacted with a hydrogen halide acceptor, e.g. NH3 or NaOH, to give the aimed substance expressed by formula IV. Alternatively, the compound expressed by formulaIis condensed with the compound expressed by formula II in the presence of the hydrogen halide acceptor or an alkali metallic salt of the compound expressed by formulaIis condensed with the compound expressed by formula II to give the compound expressed by formula IV. The reaction temperature is preferably adjusted to maintain a temperature between room temperature and 80 deg.C.
