Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To form a magnetic layer having superior surface smoothness and contg. magnetic powder with superior dispersibility and orientability and to obtain a magnetic recording medium with satisfactory magnetic characteristics, by using a magnetic coating contg. magnetic powder, a binder resin and an amido compound. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic powder (A) such as gamma-Fe2O3 powder is mixed with a binder resin (B) such as a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, an amido compound (C) such as ''Disparon 6900-20X '' of KUSUMOTO KASEI KK by about 0.1-10wt% of the amount of the magnetic powder, and an org. solvent (D) such as methyl isobutyl ketone in a ball mill or the like to prepare a magnetic coating. The coating is applied to a substrate such as a polyester film by a conventional method and dried to form a magnetic layer.
