Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To determine hydrogen content rapidly and reliably, by a method wherein, through mounting of a retainer for a receptacle holding a molten metal and an electromagnetic agitator which surrounds the retainer and is capable of controlling the flow of the molten metal, a pinhole, produced in a surface as a result of solidification of the molten metal, is observed. CONSTITUTION:A quartz tube receptacle 7, holding and solidifying a molten metal 8, is held in a retainer 9 of a refractory body filled layer 2 in a device housing case formed of an iron skin 1. An electromagnetic agitator 4 is mounted in a cooling case 3 made of iron surronding the retainer 9, a coolant is brought to flow from a tube 6 to a tuge 6a, and a cooling effect is improved by means of a buffer plate 5. An H concentration of the inside of the molten metal 8 in the receptacle 7 corresponds to the number of pinholes in the solidified surface of the molten metal 8, the index for the number of pinholes corresponds to a solidifying speed which corresponds to an index of a making current to the electromagnetic agitator 4, and this permits the rapid and reliable measurement of the H concentration CH of the inside of a sample molten metal compared with a curve previously obtained from a sample with a known H concentration. |
