AGENT FOR PROMOTING MORPHINIC ANALGESIC ACTIVITY

PURPOSE:To provide the titled agent containing a specific organogermanium compound as an active component, capable of promoting the activities of narcotic substances such as morphine, especially analgesic activity, by inhibiting the activity of opioid-decomposition enzyme, and having higher activity than known similar agents. CONSTITUTION:An agent for promoting morphinic activity is prepared by using an organogermanium compound of formula[R is OH, O-(lower alkyl) or NH2] as a main active component. The promoting agent inhibits the activity of the enzyme for decomposing the opioide which is isolated in the body by the administration of narcotic substance such as morphine, allows the opioide to exhibit its autoanalogesic activity, and promotes the analgesic activity of morphine, etc., and is effective to reduce the dose of morphine, etc. Furthermore, its activity is stronger than the activity of thiorphan and D-phenylalanine which are known drugs of the same kind.
