IDLING OPERATION OF WATER WHEEL OR PUMP WATER WHEEL

PURPOSE:To prevent an abnormal vibration by a method wherein the casing of the water wheel or the pump water wheel is filled with pressurized water, cooling water is supplied to a runner sealing part to bring it into a condition that leaked water from guide vanes is existing and, further, additional water feeding is effected so that water film at the outer peripheral part of the runner is contacted with the vanes of the runner at all times. CONSTITUTION:One terminal of a water feeding pipe 15 is opened at an upper cover 8 between the guide vane 3 and the runner 4 while the other terminal thereof is opened at a suction pipe 5. This circuit is equipped with an automatic water feeding pump 16 and an automatic valve 17. The automatic valve 17 is opened and the water feeding pump 16 is driven to supply water in the suction pipe 5 to the outer peripheral part of the runner. According to this method, a stable water film is formed around the outer periphery of the runner 4 and, therefore, the abnormal vibrations of rotating bodies as well as a priming hydraulic pressure may be prevented, from generating.
