EXAMPLE:N-[2-Benzyl-3-(ethylthio)propanoyl]-S-methyl-L-cysteine. USE:Remedy for hypertension. Useful also as a remedy for hepatic diseases and inflammatory diseases. PROCESS:The compound of formulaIcan be prepared by reacting the aminocarboxylic acid compound of formula II with the mercaptobenzyl fatty acid of formula III (R1 is lower alkyl, benzoyl, carboxy-lower alkyl or carboxy (aryl- substituted) lower alkyl) or its reactive derivative at 0 deg.C room temperature.
