SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE AND PREPARATION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To easily form a space for indicating polarity by forming a short glass sleeve body in a semiconductor diode held within a glass sleeve body. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrodes 5, 6 are inserted into both ends of a glass sleeve body 10. The electrodes 5, 6 are respectively formed by a header 7 and lead 8. A semiconductor diode 2 consisting of a silicon substrate 3 and bump electrode 4 is held between leads 8. The length tS of sleeve body 10 is set shorter than the length 2 tl+tp between internal ends of header of electrode. As a result, a gap tg1 is formed between the header 5 and upper end of sleeve 10. This gap can be used for polarity indication with the side forming this gap considered as the anode side.
