DISTRIBUTOR FOR USE IN INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To enable to reduce noises produced by sparks and the loss of ignition energy, by bringing a terminal of a metal rotor into contact with a contact terminal of a side plug before applying a high voltage produced by an ignition coil to the metal rotor, and bringing the former terminal out of contact with the latter terminal after completion of power transmission. CONSTITUTION:After a contact terminal 23 of a side plug 6 has rided on a curved metal rotor 21 along with rotation of a rotor 5 of a distributor, a high voltage from an ignition coil is transmitted via a center plug and then distributed to ignition plugs of a plurality of cylinders via the contact terminal 23, so as to cause spark discharge at each ignition plug. After completion of spark discharge, the contact terminal 23 comes out of contact with the rotating metal rotor 21. Therefore, it is enabled to prevent occurrence of spark discharge in the distributor and hence to reduce jamming caused by the spark ignition. At the same time, since the loss of electric energy in the distributor is reduced, mixture can be ignited in a stable manner correspondingly.
