METHOD FOR PREVENTING ADHERENCE OF SCARFING FIN ON STEEL BILLET

PURPOSE:To automate the work fully and remove scarfing fins generated in the work in scarfing a steel billet by jetting fluid onto a face that is adjacent and at right angles to the surface of the steel billet to be scarfed. CONSTITUTION:Fluid jetting nozzles 30, 31 are provided on the side 14 and lower face 13 on which scarfing is not made. The fluid jetting nozzle 30 has its opening a little lower than the edge 15 of the steel billet 1, and blows off molten slag etc. that flows down from the upper face of the steel billet 1. The fluid jetting nozzle 31 provided to remove scarfing fins generated on the lower face 13 of the steel billet has its opening on the lower face 31 near the lower edge of the side 12 on which scarfing is performed. Molten slag etc. that flows from the side 12 to the lower face 13 is blown off by fluid jetted from the fluid jetting nozzle 31.
