COMPOUND DISPLAY DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

PURPOSE:To make it possible to recognize the normal and abnormal displays of various physical quantities readily, accurately, and quickly and to obtain efficient countermeasures for safe driving, by radially displaying the various physical quatities regarding the vehicle on a single display surface. CONSTITUTION:The outputs of a water temperature sensor 10, a voltage sensor 20, a water quantity sensor 30, a gas temperature sensor 40 and an oil quantity temperature sensor 50 are converted into digital data by an A/D converter 60 and supplied to a microcomputer (CPU) 70. When the outputs of the sensors are normal, the CPU 70 forms a regular pentagon shaped display pattern as a display command signal. The pattern is formed by radially arranging five straight lines with the same length representing the sensor outputs at an equal angular interval from an original point 0, and connecting the outer ends of the neighboring lines. When one sensor output is abnormal, the length of the corresponding straight line is changed, the regular pentagon shaped display pattern is deformed and the display command signal is generated accordingly. The corresponding shape is lighted and displayed on a CRT display 90 in response to each display command signal.
