OPTICAL ORIGINAL SCANNING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for manual setting, by detecting the time point of start and end of original reading in response to the size of original automatically, and shifting a photoelectric converter to a prescribed position instantaneously, in a facsimile device. CONSTITUTION:In case of a copy original printing machine, an original 2 and a manuscript 4 are loaded respectively to an original device section 3 and a manuscript loading section 5 of a rotary drum 1 by matching the center of the width of them to the center of each loading section and a start switch 24, and an original size selection switch 25 or 26 are selected. The shifting time of a scanning stand 8 in response to the original size is set to an original size set timer. When a position detecting switch 16 is set on, a motor 9 is started with a high speed drive output HR, the stand 8 is fed left and stopped at the left end. Then, a drive motor 6 of the drum 1 is started with an output SC to a constant speed, then the stand 8 is rapidly traversed to the right direction, a black line B is detected at the photoelectric converter 12 at each one revolution of the drum, the original is discriminated, a recording stylus 21 is brought into contact with the original for a specified reading and punching.
