SKIN COSMETIC

PURPOSE:To provide a skin cosmetic such as lotion, etc., containing specific amounts of levulinic acid and/or its salt, capable of promoting the turn-over rate of the corneal layer of the skin (rate of skin regeneration), and making a fair skin. CONSTITUTION:The objective skin cosmetic such as lotion, cream, milky lotion, pack, etc. contains levulinic acid and/or its salt, e.g. ammonium salt, alkali metal salt, alkaline earth metal salt, alkanolamine salt, etc. in an amount of 0.05-0.7wt%, preferably 0.1-0.5wt% based on the sum of the cosmetic components. The levulinic acid contained in the cosmetic is stable and absorbed in the skin with time to activate the skin cells, promote the function of the skin and accelerate the regeneration of the skin. By the combined effect with the other components in the cosmetic, it improves the healthy state of the skin, promotes the beautification, and remarkably improves the fineness, tenseness and gloss of the skin.
