IMPRESSION READER

PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous read of noise and other impressions, by comparing a measured shape with a desired shape, and storing only the impression, which is discriminated to have a desired shape, in a picture memory part. CONSTITUTION:A color TV camera 2 reads the picture of a bill 1. The electric signal of the picture read by the camera 2 is converted to a digital quantity by an A/D converting part 4. A shape measuring device 8 measures outside circumferential positions of an impression and calculates the center of the impression and its width and outputs signals indicating the center and the width to a shape signal generating device 11. In the device 11, a preliminarily stored desired shape peripheral position signal is generated on a basis of a signal 10. An impression discriminating device 9 discriminates the coincidence or dissidence of the shape on a basis of an outside circumferential position signal 13 from the device 8 and a signal 12 from the device 11. Data of an impression part for which coincidence is discriminated, out of the output of the converting part 4 is stored in a picture memory part 5. Thus, noise and other impressions are not read erroneously, and only an objective impression is read.
