Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain the titled resin excellent in low-temp. cure for powder coating, by reacting with a polyester having an OH group a product obtd. by the reaction of a polyepoxy compd. and a monoalkyl terephthalate in the presence of an organoammonium salt. CONSTITUTION:By reacting a polyepoxy compd. having at least two epoxy groups (e.g., bisphenol type epoxy resin) with a monoalkyl therephthalate (e.g., monomethyl terephthalate) in the presence of a catalyst of the formula[wherein R1-R3 are each H, (cyclo)alky or aromatic group which may be substituted; R4is a hydrocarbon group containing amino, carbamoyl, carbonyl or ether linkage group or aromatic group which may be substituted; X is Cl, Br, I], an epoxy ester having epoxy and alkyl ester groups in combination is obtained. The reaction of this ester and a polyester resin having an OH group gives the titled resin. EFFECT:Good mechanical characteristics, corrosion resistance, and the like.
