MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To improve operability and to perform precise positioning, by providing a chassis with such pins that they are fitted in reference holes to perform position setting by the contacting of a reference surface. CONSTITUTION:A hard case 1 is inserted into a holder 9, which has guide pins 10 on its flanks; and a holder prop 11 provided on a drive side is slid to move the holder 9. The holder 9 is punched at positions corresponding to a reference hole, reference surface, media hub, and head window while the hard case 1 is inserted. When the hard case 1 is pressed by a force as shown by an arrow F, the guide pins 10 move along the holder props 11 through the holder 9 as shown by an arrow V, and consequently bosses 7 provided to the chassis 6 are fitted in reference holed of the hard case 1; and the refererce surface moves onto the bosses 7, thus setting the hard case 1 at a prescribed position.
