MAGNETIC RECORDER AND REPRODUCER

PURPOSE:To permit a head to come into contact with and to separate from a tape by providing a temporary stop holding lever which moves back the head more than in recording or reproduction for a temporary stop by engaging with a head base plate which presses respective heads against the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:When a cassette holder is opened, a magnetic tape 42 and a recording and reproducing head 3 are held at the most separate distance as shown by a figure A. When the cassette holder is pushed for driving, a control plate 15 is moved up by a spring 18 and a head base plate 2 moves up. For recording or reproduction, a solenoid (not shown in the figure) moves the head base plate 2 up to position the magnetic tape 42 and recording and reproducing head 3 as shown by a figure D. When a temporary stop state is to be set in this state, the suction of the solenoid is released to move the head base plate 2 down. In this movement, the engagement part 32a between an engagement piece 2e and the temporary stop holding lever 32 is engaged as shown by a figure C1, the distance of the movement is short, and the tape 42 and recording and reproducing head 3 are as shown by the figure C.
