Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent a seal plate from cracking due to turbulence, by positioning in a smoke duct, a protecting cover opposite to the front end portion of the seal plate so as to protect the latter against gas stream. CONSTITUTION:When a damper is fully opened, a protecting cover 7 is secured to a smoke duct 1 upstream of the damper and opposte to the front end portion of a seal plate 5. The length of the protecting cover 7 corresponds to that of the seal plate 5, and both ends of the protecting cover plate 7 are attached to the wall of the smoke duct 1 by, for example, welding. The dimention W between the side edges of the protecting cover 7 is substantially equal to the length of a bolt 6 so that turbulence due to the bolt 6 is prevented. With this arrangement, no direct attack of gas stream is exerted to the seal plate 5, thereby to prevent the seal plate 5 from cracking.
