COOLING METHOD FOR CASTING SAND

PURPOSE:To make cooling of casting sand simply and effectively by cooling casting sand that become high temperature due to circulated use by adding ice. CONSTITUTION:Casting sand used in circulation in a casting plant gradually becomes higher in temperature and if casting is made by using a mold made of such sand, casting defects such as sand inclusion, scab, etc. takes place, and at the same time, poor separation from mold occurs after casting. Accordingly, flaky or crushed ice is added to the casting sand raised in temperature to cool the casting sand to necessary low temperature. Less quantity of cooling water is required compared with cooling by water, and the range of moisture adjustment at the time of molding becomes large, and sand preparation also becomes easy.
