Zusammenfassung:	NEW MATERIAL:A peptide antibiotic substance having the following characteristics: Hygroscopic amorphous white powder. Specific rotary power[alpha]D = -2.4 deg. in water (C, 0.5%). Elementary analysis (%): C, 46.06; H, 7.05; N, 14.24. Molecular weight: 500-900[measured by the gel filtration method with ''Sephadex LH-20 '' in a solvent of 10% methanol]. Readily soluble in water, slightly soluble or insoluble in organic solvents. Positive to the ninhydrin, Sakaguchi reactions, etc. and negative to the Molisch, anthrone reactions, etc. USE:An antimicrobial agent effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. PROCESS:A strain, e.g. Arthrobacter sp. TT02-8 (FERM-P No.4793), belonging to the genus Arthrobacter is cultivated in a nutrient culture medium, preferably at 25-37 deg.C for 2-5 days.
