Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To enhance the yields of iron and Mn by top-blowing a gaseous mixture of oxygen with an inert gas from the same nozzle through a top blowing lance and intermittently moving the lance during refining so that a locus other than circular motion is described. CONSTITUTION:A gaseous mixture of oxygen with an inert gas such as Ar or N2 as a refining gas is top-blown into a steel making furnace from the same nozzle through a top blowing lance. During refining, the lance is intermittently moved so that a locus other than circular motion is described. The locus is a single locus such as triangular, square, ellipsoidal, star, chrysanthemum-shaped, sawtooth or trochlear locus or a combined locus thereof.
