Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a bearing material capable of preventing the cracking of steel balls in a high-water oil, by coating the surface of a metal or metal compound bearing with a specific fluorine-containing silane compound. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a metal or metal compound bearing is coatrd with a compound of the formula (where Rf is a fluorinated lower alkyl group, n is 2-10, and X is a halogen, cyanide, or alkoxyl group), e.g., perfluoro-isopropoxypropoly- trichlorosilane. In this method, the surface of a metal or metal oxide bearing is treated with an aqueous alkaline solution (e.g., NaOH), dried completely, and then coated with said compound of the formula, whereby permitting a durable surface of low surface energy to adhere to the surface of the metal or metal oxide.
