REACTIVE MONOAZO DYE

NEW MATERIAL:The reactive monoazo dye which, in the form of free acid, is designated by the formula I [A is benzene or naphthalene group having 1-3 SO3H groups (provided that when A is benzene, it may contain 1-2C alkyl or alkoxy group); R1 is H, 1-2C alkyl, or 1-2C alkoxy; R2 is H, 1-2C alkyl, 1-2C alkoxy, acetylamino, etc.; R3 is H or methyl; X is beta-(thio)sulfatoethyl, beta-phosphatoethyl, etc.; Y is H, Cl or SO3H]. EXAMPLE:The compound of formula II. USE:For dyeing of cellulosic fibers such as cotton, hemp, artificial silk, etc. It has excellent fixing rate, build-up properties, color fastness to light, etc. PROCESS:The objective compound is prepared, e.g. by (1) reacting 1mol of 1,3,5- trichlorotriazine (as free acid) with 1mol of the compound of formula III in an aqueous medium at 0-10 deg.C and pH 4-7, and (2) reacting 1mol of the product with 1mol of the compound of formula IV in an aqueous medium at 20-50 deg.C and pH 4-7.
