Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To make the decrease in electrolytic voltage possible by segmenting an anode and a cathode by an ionic exchange membrane formed of gas and liquid permeable porous layers having no electrode acrivity on both surfaces, and performing electrolysis while pressurizing one of the anode chamber and the cathode chamber. CONSTITUTION:In an electrolytic cell which electrolyzes water, acids, aq. alkali solns., alkali halide, etc., its anode and cathode are segmented by an ion exchange membrane consisting oa fluorine-contg. polymer having carboxylic acid groups, sulfonic acid groups, and phosphoric acid groups. Gas and liquid permeable porous layers of 0.01-2,000 microns average pore sizes and 10-95% porosities having no electrode activity are formed on both surfaces of the ion exchange membrane. Either one of the anode chamber or cathode chamber is pressurized under 0.01-2kg/cm pressurizing rates in executing electrolysis. The electrolysis at 10-100A/dm current densities is made possible by this. |
