WATER SPRAYING DEVICE FOR BLAST FURNACE

PURPOSE:To eliminate the failure and clogging of a water spraying device and to make quick and uniform spraying possible by providing the water spraying pipe through which cooling water and purging gas flow respectively by penetrating through the shell of the core of the furnace top and making the nozzle at the leading end of the water spraying pipe movable forward and backward. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of normal operation when water spraying is not required, a water spraying pipe 1 is kept standing by in the position receiving no influence of charging materials that are falling, that is, in the position where the nozzle 2 is retreated to near the shell 3 of the furnace core. Then, gaseous purging by gasoues N2 or the like is carried out by closing a water feed valve 7 and by opening a purging gas supply valve 8, whereby the clogging of the nozzle 2 is prevented. Next, in the stage of blowing out operation or the like a winch 14 is driven to advance the pipe 1 after stopping of charging of the raw materials and the nozzle 2 is moved to the position adequate for spraying in the central area in the furnace. The valve 7 is then opened to start the water spraying and at the same time the valve 8 is closed. The backflow of water to a gas purging pipe 6 is blocked by a check valve 11.
