SOLID IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE

PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation of a picture and blooming due to the charge transfer loss, by transferring signal charge stored in plural photodetectors arranged in a matrix to vertical transfer lines and transferring signal charge to a horizontal transfer region in one horizontal period. CONSTITUTION:Signal charge is stored in photodetector regions 21, which are arranged in an X-Y matrix, for a constant time in accordance with optical information. Clock pulses phix1-phixn generated in the horizontal blanking time of a television signal are applied successively to control a gate 22, and this stored signal charge is transferred to a vertical transfer line 23 line by line. A clock pulse phiT overlapping pulses phix1-phixn and a gate pulse phi overlapping the pulse phiT are controlled to input signal charge stored in the line 23 to a horizontal transfer CCD 24 within the horizontal blanking time. Clock pulses phi1H-phi3H of the CCD 24 are controlled to read out signal charge as a video output from an output terminal 25 within one horizontal scanning period. Since charge is transferred from the photodetector region only twice, the degradation of the picture due to the dark current is prevented.
