Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide the titled emulsion having excellent miscibility with pigments and useful as a vehicle for paint, by emulsion-polymerizing ethylene and vinyl acetate by using an anionic surfactant, a specified nonionic surfactant and a water-soluble protective colloid. CONSTITUTION:The titled copolymer having an ethylene content of 5-20wt% is obtd. by emulsion-polymerizing vinyl acetate and ethylene by using 0.1-1.5wt% (based on the amount of vinyl acetate) anionic surfactant such as sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium diethylhexyl phosphate, 4-8wt% polyxyethylene/polyoxypropylene condensation type nonionic surfactant of the formula (wherein a, b, c are each an integer of 1 or more, pref. those having a polyoxypropylene unit content of 15-60wt%), and 0.3-4wt% water-soluble protective colloid such as partially saponified PVA. By using two kinds of said surfactants and said water- soluble protective colloid in combination, blending of large amounts of pigments becomes possible without deteriorating characteristics which EVA emulsion originally possesses.
