Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the operability of incorporation by simplifying a structure by coupling a connecting member with an optical fiber end by embossment and thermal shaping. CONSTITUTION:A connecting member 3 made of synthetic resin having excellent heat resisting property has a through hole 4 along an axial core and a circumferential recess groove 5 on an external surface; the hole 4 has on the front side a small-diameter part 6 conforming to the external diameter of an optical fiber body 1, and on the rear side a large-diameter part 7 conforming to the external diameter of coating 2, and the front edge is provided with an expanding tapered part 8 which expands out. The groove 5 is positioned at the external surface part of the large-diameter part 7, and the connecting member of this part is made thin. The exposed end of the fiber is inserted into the hole 4 from the rear to be fitted in the small-diameter part 6, and the tip of the coating 2 is installed in the large-diameter part 7. On the bottom of the groove 5, an adequate number of embossmetns 9 are formed, and the thin part is projected into the large-diameter part 7 to permit this projection 10 to bite into the coating 2. At the end part of the body 1, on the other hand, its sheath part 1a is thermally shaped by flowing its material into the tapered part 8 for package, and the end surface 11 is finished into a specular surface.
