Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To reduce cell voltage and to reduce the cost of wire making in a continuous electrolytic wire making line for electrodeposited wires by forming the core wire material before enterning an electroplating cell to a non-circular shape in section. CONSTITUTION:A copper core wire (a) is drawn out from a bobbin 1, and is formed to a non-circular hsape such as elliptic or flat shape in section with a forming die 2. This formed core wire material is passed through electroplating cells 4, 4 a number of times by the turning at turning sheaves 5, 5 via a pretreatment cell 3, whereby it is plated with copper successively. Since this non- circular core wire material has a large surface area, the current density on the circumference of the core wire material decreases and cathode decomposition voltage decreases considerably. Hence, the cell voltage can be reduced correspondingly. The electrodeposited wire obtd. by this method is formed to a circular shape in section by means of a die, after which it is used as a conductor strand for electrical wires and cables.
